Description:
This Fairbanks Morse project focused on visualizing opposed-piston engine technology for a technical product video. The engine’s design is mechanically fascinating, with paired pistons moving toward one another in each cylinder rather than using a traditional cylinder head. That motion made the internal operation especially interesting to animate, but also made the rigging more complex than a typical engine visualization.

Because the timeline was limited, we used a stylized architectural-engineering look instead of a fully photorealistic treatment. That approach helped simplify production while still communicating the engine’s structure, movement, and advantages clearly. The supporting script focused on proven performance, serviceability, mission-critical power, and the flexibility of the OP engine design across hospitals, municipalities, universities, manufacturing, and industrial power generation.
