Description:
This 2006 scripting reel highlights a collection of custom production tools I developed to automate repetitive 3D tasks using MEL and MaxScript. At the time, many modern conveniences either did not exist or were too slow to rely on in production, so these tools helped streamline scene setup, animation control, lighting workflows, and rendering preparation. Several were designed to fake expensive effects like radiosity and global illumination, which could be far too costly to render on the hardware available then.
The larger toolset, called jeStuff, was originally written in MEL for Maya and later adapted in part to MaxScript for 3ds Max. These scripts were built for practical team use, helping artists work faster, maintain consistency, and solve technical problems that would otherwise require heavy manual effort. The reel is muted by default, but includes a narrated walkthrough for anyone interested in the details behind each tool and the production challenges they were created to solve.
