Description:
The GE Aviation ACS project was visually simple on the surface, but technically one of the more challenging animations I had worked on at the time. The product was a modular system designed to apply across many aircraft platforms, which made the storytelling difficult. Showing it too literally risked creating aircraft-specific configuration or branding issues, so I developed a more illustrative polygonal style to keep the message flexible, clean, and visually distinct.

The low-poly approach also gave the piece a unique aesthetic that was a lot of fun to explore. While the style looks simple, animating it introduced unexpected production challenges, especially when trying to keep motion smooth, elegant, and intentional. Much of the project required scripting and unconventional use of 3ds Max tools to create effects like animated polygonal skies, rolling clouds, and stylized transitions without making the imagery feel distracting or overly mechanical.

Technical Hurdles
Although the final piece had a clean, minimal look, many shots required custom problem-solving behind the scenes. Even something as simple as moving clouds became a technical challenge when the sky was built from triangles. The goal was to create subtle motion that felt natural and atmospheric while still preserving the geometric visual language of the piece.
